Does mouthwash prevent cavities?

I'm always conscious about my oral hygiene and try to do everything right. Does using mouthwash regularly actually prevent cavities from forming, or is its role mostly for fresh breath?

I literally use it only when I'm too lazy to brush in the morning, lol. But my dentist friend said it only helps if it has fluoride, regular ones just make your breath smell nice.

Mouthwash se bacteria toh saaf hote hain, haan na? Par sirf uspar nirbhar nahi reh sakte, proper brushing and flossing toh sabse best hai cavities se bachne ke liye.

Saltwater gargles are a wonderful natural disinfectant for daily use. However, if you already have black spots or pain, please visit a doctor as simple home rinses cannot cure deep decay.

I used to be terrified of dental decay and bought every preventive rinse available. It does help reinforce enamel, but don't stress too much—standard brushing and dental checks are the main defense.

Using a fluoride-based mouthwash can support your enamel. I try to maintain a strict dental routine because hormonal shifts can make gums quite sensitive to plaque.
