Does mouthwash help with cavities?

Even after brushing, sometimes I feel my mouth isn't entirely clean. I'm trying to avoid future cavities. Does using mouthwash really help get rid of or prevent cavities?

It can help protect enamel, but overall health depends on diet and checking your pressure and blood sugar regularly. Good hygiene is just one part of keeping your system healthy.

Buying expensive medicated mouthwashes is a waste if you aren't brushing properly. Better to spend money on regular 6-month scaling checks which prevent cavities much cheaper.

Modern mouthwashes are okay, but rinsing your mouth thoroughly with clean water after every single meal is the best traditional way to prevent food from rotting in teeth.

In our time, we didn't have all these colourful mouthwashes and our teeth stayed strong till old age. Just brush twice daily and clean your tongue, that is more than enough.

It helps flush out food particles, but if you eat clean and avoid processed sugar, your mouth pH stays balanced naturally. Focus on nutrition first.

Does anyone else feel like mouthwash makes their mouth too dry? I'm worried this dryness might actually cause more cavities instead of preventing them.
