Does mouthwash help prevent cavities?

I brush twice a day, but I still get cavities sometimes. My dentist recommended using mouthwash as an added measure. Does mouthwash actually help in preventing cavities, or is brushing enough?

Yes, using a fluoride mouthwash once a day can help strengthen your enamel and prevent cavities from forming.

Indeed, it does. Just make sure you don't rinse with water immediately after using it, so the fluoride stays on your teeth.

I used to be so paranoid about getting cavities despite brushing twice. My dentist recommended a simple fluoride rinse, and my checkups have been completely clean since then!

Take care of your health with a joyful mind. Regular rinsing with simple clean water or a mild mouthwash keeps the body pure and free of minor dental troubles.

It helps, but cutting down on processed sugars and late-night snacking is 90% of the game. Mouthwash won't save you if your diet is full of sugary sodas.

I got so worried about enamel erosion that I started using mouthwash after every meal. Please don't do that, excessive use can wash away good oral bacteria and damage your teeth!

I had four cavities last year. Trust me, mouthwash alone won't work unless you use interdental brushes or floss daily to remove the food stuck between your teeth.

Yes, but make sure to buy an alcohol-free fluoride mouthwash. The ones with alcohol dry out your mouth, which can actually increase the risk of cavities over time.
