Does mouthwash cause erectile dysfunction?

My friend mentioned that certain oral hygiene products might have unexpected side effects. I was shocked when he said mouthwash could potentially cause erectile dysfunction. Is there any truth to this claim?

Some studies say strong antiseptic mouthwash kills good bacteria in the mouth that help make nitric oxide, which is needed for blood flow. I switched to warm water rinses and regular brushing instead.

It sounds like a wild rumor, but actually there's a tiny bit of science about nitric oxide behind it! Just don't overuse it 3-4 times a day and you'll be absolutely fine. 👍

Let's be practical. Erectile issues are mostly caused by stress, poor diet, and lack of exercise, not because you used Listerine after brushing. Fix your lifestyle first.

While there are some theoretical studies about oral bacteria and nitric oxide production, it is highly unlikely to cause major issues on its own. For any persistent health concerns, do consult a medical specialist.
