Does milk thistle help your liver?

My friend who works in pharma suggested I consider milk thistle for general well-being. I don't have any specific liver issues, but I'm curious. Does milk thistle help your liver in a general sense?

I totally get it, liver health is so worrying when the reports are not perfect. Some people do say milk thistle supports liver cells, but please don't stress too much. Just talk to a good general physician to see if you actually need it.

Haan, log bolte toh hain ki liver ke liye milk thistle accha hota hai. But honestly, pure liver cure toh nahi hai na. Fatty food kam karna padega aur proper doc ko dikhana hi padega.

I made the mistake of relying on basic liver tonics and herbal pills instead of getting my high liver enzymes investigated. Later my condition became quite painful. Please don't rely only on milk thistle, get a proper blood test done first.

I have been thinking of buying milk thistle because my digestion is always sluggish. But I'm very scared of side effects on the stomach. Did anyone else experience any acidity or bloating after taking these capsules?

My gym trainer suggested milk thistle for a liver detox after I took too many protein supplements. Honestly, it didn't do much for me. I just drank lots of water and cut down on gym supplements, and my liver reports became normal on their own.

My son had slightly elevated liver markers last year and we researched about milk thistle. His pediatrician strictly advised against giving him any herbal pills without a prescription. We just gave him fresh home-cooked food, and he recovered beautifully.
