Does migraine qualify for disability?

My migraines are so severe and frequent that they affect my ability to work and lead a normal life. I've heard some conditions can qualify for disability. Does migraine qualify for disability benefits?

In India, getting a formal government disability certificate for migraines is extremely difficult as it is not listed as a standard disability under the RPwD Act. However, you can present detailed medical records and neurologist certificates to your corporate HR to request flexible work hours or work-from-home accommodations.

I didn't know migraines could be considered this severe. Does anyone here know if Indian government offices accept medical leave certificates from private neurologists for chronic migraine attacks?

Look, practically speaking, no government office here is going to give you a disability pension for migraines. But if it is affecting your job, talk to your boss directly and show your doctor's prescriptions to get some relief.

It is very hard to get official disability for it in India, but your doctor can give you official rest certificates for your employer.

If your migraines are so frequent and severe that you are considering disability, it means your current treatment plan is not working. Please consult a senior neurologist to run proper brain scans and get a stronger preventive treatment plan for your safety.

My son has chronic migraines and missed many college exams because of it. We had to submit proper medical board certificates to his university to get him extra time and assignment extensions. Talk to your doctor to see how they can support you with official documentation.

Honestly, during a bad attack, even looking at my favorite chole bhature makes me dizzy, so it definitely feels like a major disability to me! Sadly, official rules are very strict, but taking a sick day and eating some light comfort food is the best we can do.

I have had to take unpaid leave so many times due to my attacks. While we don't get official disability status, I found that sharing my medical reports with my team leader helped them understand my situation better, and they stopped questioning my sudden leaves.

I keep worrying that my frequent leaves for migraines will get me fired from my job! Knowing if we have any legal rights or disability protection would be such a relief, but it seems the laws in India are still not very clear on this. Sending you lots of strength.

I totally get it, the pain is so debilitating that you literally cannot function, yet the world thinks it is just a simple headache. It is so unfair that chronic migraines aren't easily recognized as a disability here, but please keep fighting and take care of your mental health.

To apply for any medical relaxation, you must have a standardized clinical record of your attacks, including MRI scans to rule out other neurological issues. Please visit a government hospital specialist to establish a proper medical file for legal and safety purposes.

Same thoughts, it is incredibly draining. Getting medical insurance coverage for migraine treatments is also a task, so keep all your hospital bills carefully.
