Does migraine make you sleepy?

After a migraine attack, I feel completely drained and just want to sleep for hours. Even during the attack, I feel very sleepy. Does migraine make you sleepy generally?

I get migraines quite often along with my hormonal fluctuations, and yes, they make me incredibly exhausted and sleepy. It is like the brain just shuts down to recover from the intense pain. Just listen to your body and sleep it off if you can.

Yes, dear, a migraine takes a lot of energy from the body, which makes you feel very tired and sleepy. Please take some warm milk, lie down in a quiet room, and rest well.

Actually, it is like a total brain drain, yaar. After the throbbing stops, I feel so incredibly sleepy and sluggish, like I haven't slept in days. It is completely normal, so just curl up and take a nap.

Haan na, it makes you so sleepy! Sometimes I feel like sleeping is the only option because even keeping my eyes open feels like a big task during a migraine. It is better to just rest, ho na.

I am experiencing this for the first time and felt extremely drowsy after my headache started. Is this sleepiness just from the migraine itself, or could it be a side effect of the common painkiller tablets we take?

Our bodies are very wise and know when they need to heal. Sleep is a beautiful way for the mind to find peace and quiet when the pain is too overwhelming. Take gentle care of yourself and rest without any worry.

Yes, bhai, it makes you very sleepy. The head pain is so heavy that you cannot look at any light or listen to any sound. Just wrap a soft cloth around your head and sleep in a dark room.

I used to feel so frustrated and guilty for sleeping away my entire weekend because of migraines, thinking I was being lazy. But I realized the extreme fatigue is a real symptom of the attack itself, so please don't be hard on yourself for needing sleep.

Bro, a migraine literally knocks me out. The pain is so bad that my brain just forces me to sleep for 4-5 hours straight. Honestly, sleeping is the only way I can get any relief from the throbbing.

I have dealt with these headaches for over thirty years now. Sleeping is actually the body's natural defense mechanism to heal from the pain. Don't fight the sleepiness, just let yourself rest and you will wake up feeling much better.

The nervous system gets highly overloaded during a migraine attack, which naturally drains your energy and makes you sleepy. Practicing deep Shavasana or simple meditation helps the brain enter a restorative state more quickly and peacefully.

According to my neurologist, fatigue and sleepiness can happen during both the prodrome phase (before the headache) and the postdrome phase (often called the migraine hangover). It is a physiological reaction as the brain recovers from cortical spreading depression.
