Does mercury still make 2 stroke outboards?

My family runs a small fishing business, and we're looking to replace some older equipment. We've always used Mercury outboards, but I'm not sure about their current models. I was wondering if Mercury still manufactures 2-stroke outboard engines these days, or have they switched completely to 4-stroke?

Hey bro, Mercury stopped making them for most commercial markets because of emission laws, but they still produce some for commercial/military use in specific regions. If you are looking for general leisure use, you'll mostly find only 4-strokes in the retail market now.

No, they don't sell consumer 2-strokes in major global markets anymore due to EPA regulations. If you want a 2-stroke, you'll have to hunt for a pre-owned one. Otherwise, just buy a modern 4-stroke; they are much more fuel-efficient and reliable anyway.

From what my husband mentioned about boating, new 2-stroke outboards are very hard to find now due to environmental regulations. On a side note, spending long hours on the water can cause bad sunburns or dehydration, so always carry fresh coconut water and apply thick sunscreen before going out.

Haan yaar, the government norms are very strict now so they stopped regular production. Ab toh zero pollution wale 4-stroke engines hi chalte hain market mein, na? If you want that old 2-stroke feel, you'll have to find a second-hand dealer.

I used to own a small boat years ago and we had a Mercury 2-stroke that was very easy to maintain. Nowadays, when I visit the docks, everyone is using 4-strokes. They say Mercury has completely moved its focus to cleaner technology for regular buyers.

I totally get it, those classic 2-stroke motors had a different kind of raw power and simplicity that boat lovers still miss. Unfortunately, modern environmental norms have forced manufacturers to shift to 4-strokes, so finding a brand new 2-stroke is almost impossible now.

I was also wondering about this because I heard parts for older 2-strokes are becoming very rare. Is anyone else worried about maintenance costs for older boats? I am quite nervous about getting stuck in deep water if my old motor fails.

I don't know much about marine engines, but my uncle in Goa has an old fishing boat with a noisy 2-stroke. Whenever we go there, we use it to go crabbing and then cook a massive spicy crab curry! I think they only sell 4-strokes now, which are much quieter but maybe less nostalgic.
