Does mental health qualify for disability?

Battling severe depression and anxiety for a few years now, it's making it really hard for me to hold down a job. My therapist mentioned looking into disability options. I wanted to know if mental health conditions like mine can qualify a person for disability benefits in India.

Haan beta, if the mental illness is very severe and makes it impossible for someone to work or live normally, there are government certificates for it. Humare yahan ek padosi ne bhi apply kiya tha. Bas aapko acche sarkari hospital ke doctor se milkar poora paper banwana padega.

Yes, severe mental health conditions can qualify for disability under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act in India. Usually, a certified psychiatrist has to evaluate the level of impairment. You can even check basic wellness apps to track your mood patterns, but the official legal process requires proper clinical documentation.

Honestly, dealing with severe anxiety makes even getting out of bed feel like a marathon, let alone working. It absolutely is a real disability in daily life! When my mood goes down, I can only think of comfort food, but legal certification is a different ball game and needs proper official channels.

Yes, but it has to be diagnosed and certified by a medical board. I always go to Max Hospital for any major issues, and they have clear processes for psychiatric evaluations. You should discuss this directly with a senior psychiatrist at a reputed hospital to understand the exact percentage of disability they look for.

While severe conditions like schizophrenia or major clinical depression are eligible for disability benefits, you must get it officially evaluated. Don't rely on self-diagnosis or random online tests for this. Go to a licensed medical professional to get a proper, formal evaluation done.

It is true that extreme mental stress and illness are now recognized by the government for support. Along with following the legal and medical route, please ensure the person is also getting fresh air, eating simple home-cooked meals, and resting. A peaceful mind needs both medical support and a quiet lifestyle.
