Does meniscus tear pain come and go?

My knee was injured during a dance practice, and the doctor said it might be a meniscus tear. The pain isn't always there; sometimes it's quite bad, and other times it's just a dull ache or completely gone. Is it normal for the pain from a meniscus tear to fluctuate like this?

Yes, the knee pain can be very unpredictable and keep coming and going. For my overall health and BP, I try to walk regularly, but when my knee flares up, I take complete rest. Make sure to visit your doctor to get it checked before doing any heavy physical activity.

Yes! One day you feel like running a marathon, and the next day climbing one stair feels impossible. It is totally normal for meniscus tears to act up like this. Rest up and stay positive, it gets better!

Dude, don't stress too much, this is exactly how a meniscus tear behaves. It can stay quiet for days until you make a sudden turn. Just avoid squatting or lifting heavy weights and consult a good physio soon.

Look, a torn cartilage doesn't heal on its own easily, which is why the pain keeps returning whenever you strain it. Stop playing doctor at home and go get an MRI. Once you have the report, the orthopedic doctor will tell you if you need therapy or surgery.

Actually, my doctor explained that meniscus pain fluctuates because the outer part has a blood supply while the inner part doesn't. When the joint gets inflamed due to certain movements, the pain flares up, and it subsides once the inflammation goes down. He recommended tracking which activities trigger it.

Yes, meniscus pain is highly intermittent. It usually triggers only during certain movements or angles.

I had a grade 2 meniscus tear last year and my pain was highly on and off. Some weeks were totally pain-free, but then a simple wrong step would make it swell again. My doctor finally recommended targeted physiotherapy, which helped me immensely.
