Does medicare cover zepbound for sleep apnea?

I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea, and my physician suggested considering Zepbound as part of a treatment plan. Does anyone know if health insurance plans in India usually cover Zepbound for sleep apnea? I need to check my options.

I was just reading about this online because my dad snorers badly and has sleep apnea. It seems researchers are studying these weight loss drugs for sleep issues, but I doubt standard medical insurance covers it yet. Let me know if anyone has actually managed to get a claim approved for this.

I am quite new to this and didn't know weight loss medicines could help with sleep apnea. Is this a common treatment now? I hope insurance covers it because these newer medications are really expensive for regular families like ours.

I feel so anxious when my breathing stops momentarily during sleep, it is terrifying. My doctor mentioned Zepbound might help but the cost is making me stress even more. Has anyone successfully got their insurance to pay for this, or did you have to pay out of pocket?

My physician explained that while losing weight definitely reduces sleep apnea severity, Zepbound is still primarily classified as a weight management drug. Because of this classification, standard insurance policies typically exclude it from coverage unless there is a very specific policy rider. He advised focusing on CPAP therapy first while we work on lifestyle changes.

Using weight loss drugs for sleep apnea is an evolving area of medicine. While there is clinical data supporting it, insurance approvals are highly bureaucratic and usually reject such claims. It is best to consult a sleep specialist and get their recommendation on covered therapies.
