Does medicare cover inspire for sleep apnea?

My sleep apnea is quite severe, and I heard about a new implantable device called Inspire as an alternative to CPAP. I'm curious if advanced health insurance plans or government health schemes would cover such a specialized treatment for sleep apnea in India.

Yes, Medicare actually does cover the Inspire implant for sleep apnea, but they have very strict criteria. You usually need to show that you cannot tolerate a CPAP machine first and have a moderate-to-severe apnea index. Your doctor will need to submit all these diagnostic sleep study reports for approval.

Yes, Medicare covers Inspire therapy if you meet their specific health guidelines and can't use CPAP. Talk to an ENT specialist to get evaluated.

I am also looking into Inspire because CPAP makes me feel so claustrophobic and anxious at night. Has anyone here actually gone through the Medicare approval process for this device? It feels so overwhelming to manage all the insurance criteria and sleep test records.

My uncle was looking at this recently because he hates his CPAP mask. Apparently, Medicare does cover Inspire, but you have to pass some sleep tests first and prove the regular machine isn't working for you. Better check with your doc to see if you qualify!

Dealing with sleep issues can be so exhausting, I completely understand the struggle. From my understanding, Medicare does cover Inspire, but only when other standard treatments don't work for you. It's safer to have a detailed discussion with a sleep specialist who can help you navigate this step-by-step.
