Does medicare cover continuous glucose monitors for type 2 diabetes?

I've had Type 2 Diabetes for a long time, and a friend told me about continuous glucose monitors for better control. I wanted to check if general health insurance plans or government schemes usually cover these devices for long-term diabetic patients. Is it something I should look into?

I get so stressed about getting these expensive devices approved by insurance. Yes, Medicare covers them, but the paperwork has to be absolutely perfect with details of your insulin logs. Don't worry, just ask your doctor's staff to help you file it carefully.

I was looking this up online and apparently, Medicare did expand coverage for CGMs recently. Now, even some Type 2 patients who aren't using insulin but have issues with low sugar can qualify. You should definitely check the latest guidelines with your healthcare provider.

Yes, Medicare covers continuous glucose monitors under durable medical equipment (DME). My doctor explained that you need a prescription showing you adjust your insulin based on CGM readings and have regular checkups every six months to keep the coverage active.

At this age, my body has more alarms than a security system! Thankfully, Medicare does cover these monitors for Type 2 diabetes now. It saves you from constantly turning your fingers into pincushions, just make sure your doctor writes a solid case for you.

Since CGMs and their sensors have recurring monthly costs, getting Medicare approval is a huge financial relief. Make sure your supplier is Medicare-enrolled, otherwise you might end up paying a massive bill out of pocket. Plan this check before ordering.
