Does meat cause kidney stones?

I've been advised to watch my diet because of a history of kidney stones in my family. Someone told me that eating a lot of meat can lead to kidney stone formation. Is there any truth to this claim about meat and kidney stones?

Hey! Yes, eating too much red meat can increase your risk of kidney stones because it's high in purines, which can lead to uric acid stones. I had a small stone last year and my doctor told me to cut down on mutton and drink lots of water.

My uncle had to go to the hospital for kidney stones and the doc told him to chill out on the daily non-veg. Apparently, too much meat causes uric acid build-up. Now he drinks fresh lime juice every day to help prevent them.

The pain of passing a kidney stone is absolutely terrifying and exhausting. It is completely normal to feel scared about what you are eating. Limiting red meat and increasing your water intake really helps prevent that awful pain from coming back.

I've dealt with kidney stones twice, and cutting down on heavy red meat was a game changer for me. High animal protein makes your urine more acidic, which triggers stone formation. If you eat non-veg, make sure to drink at least 3 liters of water daily to flush things out.

I was reading up on this because I'm on a high-protein diet. It seems animal proteins increase calcium excretion and decrease citrate in urine, which makes stones more likely. I guess balancing meat with enough fluids and veggies is the key.

Bro, don't stress too much! Eating chicken a few times a week won't suddenly give you kidney stones. Just make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day to keep your kidneys happy and flushed.

Don't just stop eating meat based on what you read on internet forums. While animal protein can contribute to certain types of stones, it depends entirely on your body's specific chemistry and genetics. Go get a proper urine and blood analysis done to know for sure.
