Does manuka honey cause diabetes?

I started using Manuka honey because of its health benefits, but I'm also mindful of my sugar intake, especially since my parents have diabetes. Could consuming Manuka honey regularly increase my risk of developing diabetes?

No, honey itself doesn't directly cause diabetes, but it is high in simple sugars and carbs. If you track your glycemic index on health apps, you will see that even Manuka honey spikes your blood sugar quickly. Excess consumption over time can contribute to insulin resistance.

No, it doesn't cause diabetes on its own, but since it is sweet, it is always best to enjoy it in very small amounts to keep your health balanced.

I totally get it, with so much health information online, it is easy to get scared about everyday foods. Manuka honey has great antibacterial properties, but at the end of the day, it is still sugar. Enjoy it occasionally, but don't overdo it, okay?

I used to consume high amounts of natural sweeteners thinking they are healthy, ignoring my constant thirst and fatigue until I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Please don't assume 'natural' means safe for unlimited use; get your HbA1c checked regularly.

Manuka honey is fine in moderation, especially if you are active. I sometimes use a tiny bit before my morning runs for quick energy. Just pair your diet with regular physical exercise like daily brisk walks to keep your insulin sensitivity high.

I got so worried about this because I have been taking a teaspoon of Manuka honey for my immunity every morning. I started overthinking if I was spiking my blood sugar too much. It is probably fine in tiny doses, but maybe we should consult a doctor to be absolutely sure.

Dekho, honey is not a poison, but it is still sugar. Eating a spoonful of Manuka honey daily won't give you diabetes, but if you have a bad lifestyle and eat sweet things all day, your risk goes up. Keep it moderate.

Beta, honey is very good for health and throat, but it is still sweet. Eating too much of anything sweet is not good for the body. Use a little bit in warm water, but do not eat it like a sweet dish.
