Does magnesium citrate help you sleep?

I've been having trouble sleeping deeply lately. My friend swears by magnesium citrate for better sleep. Does magnesium citrate actually help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep, or is it just a placebo effect for some?

For good sleep, drinking warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg is my go-to remedy. Magnesium citrate can help relax muscles, but it can also upset your stomach, so see a doctor if your insomnia is very severe.

I read so much about this online and got so confused! I was scared of side effects, but magnesium citrate does help with muscle relaxation. Just start with a very low dose so you don't get stomach cramps, hope you sleep well!

I had terrible insomnia last month and tried magnesium citrate. While it did relax my body, it also gave me loose motions because it acts like a laxative. If you want sleep, magnesium glycinate is a much better option.

I used magnesium citrate for a while. It works for relaxation, but honestly, magnesium glycinate is far gentler on the stomach for sleep. Also, cut off screen time 1 hour before bed, that is the most realistic tip I can give.

I panicked when I had stomach rumbling after taking magnesium citrate for sleep. Later, I found out it is normal for this form of magnesium. It does help you sleep, just take it early in the evening.

My uncle suggested herbal chamomile tea for sleep, but when I asked my doctor, he said magnesium citrate can relax your nervous system. However, he warned me it is mainly used for constipation, so ask your doctor for the right form of magnesium.
