Does macrobid treat kidney infections?

As a doctor, I often encounter patients with various infections. I wanted to confirm if Macrobid is considered an effective treatment specifically for kidney infections. Is it a common drug of choice in such cases?

I am so scared right now because my doctor said Macrobid is mostly for bladder UTIs, not deep kidney infections. Did anyone else get prescribed this for kidney issues? I am worried it won't clear the infection properly.

I can't say if it works for everyone, but when I had a severe back ache from a kidney issue, my doc gave me a different, stronger antibiotic. Macrobid only helped me with normal burning urination. Definitely check with your urologist.

When you have a serious internal infection like this, resting is key. Don't try to go for your usual runs or gym sessions until your doctor confirms the infection is gone. Just focus on taking your prescribed pills and staying hydrated.

I completely understand how terrifying it feels when you suspect a kidney infection, the pain can be awful. But please don't self-medicate with Macrobid. It usually doesn't reach high enough concentrations in the kidneys to cure a deep infection, so you must get a proper prescription.

I was just reading about this online because my cousin got a UTI. From what I found on medical sites, Macrobid stays in the bladder and doesn't treat kidney infections well. It is very important to show a doctor to get the right medicine.
