Does lying on the floor help with back pain?

I've had a persistent lower back pain for the past few weeks, especially after long hours at work. My colleague suggested that lying flat on the floor for some time might provide relief. Does anyone know if this actually helps with back pain?

Our modern soft mattresses are the main culprits for back pain. Lying on a hard surface or a firm yoga mat on the floor for 15 minutes gives great relief to the spine. Don't sleep there the whole night though, just a short session is enough to stretch the muscles.

My daughter got severe lower back pain during her board exams from sitting too long. Lying on a thin mat on the floor helped her align her spine, but make sure not to lie down directly on a freezing cold tile floor. Put a small cushion under your knees to ease the pressure.

Haan, it actually works wonders na! Whenever my back hurts from long driving, I just lie down on a simple chatai on the floor for some time. It feels so much better than the soft bed, just try it for 10-15 minutes.

Lying on the floor might give temporary relief, but if your back pain is radiating down your legs or you feel numbness, please don't experiment with home remedies. Go see an orthopedist or a physiotherapist first to rule out any nerve compression.

I had a bad disc issue last year and tried the floor method. Honestly, it helps temporarily because it stops your back from curving, but getting up from the floor can be painful if your back is locked. Use your hands for support when standing up and never do sudden movements.

Yes, lying on a flat, firm surface like the floor in Savasana is very therapeutic for the back. It allows the muscles to fully relax without sinking. Try keeping your knees bent and feet flat on the floor to release any tension in the lower lumbar region.

Actually yaar, my gym trainer also told me this. When you lie on the floor, your spine gets a flat support which you don't get on soft couches. Just don't use a thick pillow under your head, keep it flat or use a very thin one.
