Does lying down help with vomiting?

My little one is feeling very queasy and might vomit anytime. Usually, I make him sit up straight, but someone told me that lying down might actually help. What's the best position to be in when you're feeling like throwing up?

Lying completely flat can actually worsen nausea and increases the risk of choking if you do vomit. It is usually recommended to keep your head elevated at a 45-degree angle. If the vomiting is severe or accompanied by intense abdominal pain, please see a doctor immediately.

Hey, don't stress too much, it's probably just a mild stomach bug. Don't lie down flat right now because it might make you feel more dizzy and sick. Just sit up comfortably with some pillows supporting your back and sip some ginger water slowly.

Whenever my stomach is upset, lying down flat makes the acid travel up and triggers the gag reflex. I usually log my hydration levels on my app and make sure to sip ORS slowly while sitting semi-reclined. Staying upright really helps control the urge to throw up.

When my son had a stomach infection last month, the doctor told us never to let him lie down flat right after he feels nauseous. Keep some pillows under the head so they are in a propped-up position. Give small sips of warm water or electral, never huge gulps.

Beta, never lie down flat when you are feeling like vomiting because it can push the acid up. Sit quietly on the bed with your back supported and keep a vessel nearby just in case. Sip a little bit of lemon juice with black salt, it really helps settle the stomach.

Vomiting and dizziness can sometimes happen due to high blood pressure or acidity issues. Lying down flat doesn't help me; instead, I sit under a fan and try to breathe slowly. Get your BP checked if this happens often along with the nausea.
