Does lotion help eczema?

My little one has developed some patches of eczema, and it looks so itchy and uncomfortable. My mom suggested just applying regular lotion, but I'm not sure if that's enough. Does lotion actually help in treating or managing eczema?

My eczema flares up every time I lose sleep, which is basically every day. Honestly, watery lotions do nothing for my dry patches; you need thick, fragrance-free ceramides or creams. Just buy something heavy duty instead of light lotions.

Beta, eczema needs constant moisture to heal. Applying pure virgin coconut oil after a bath when the skin is still damp is a very good natural way to soothe it. But if there is any pus or severe itching, please show it to a doctor.

I just recovered from a terrible eczema flare-up on my hands. Regular scented lotions actually made it burn and itch more. I switched to a dermatologist-prescribed eczema cream and it worked wonders within three days.

I tried everything from neem paste to mustard oil, but learned that keeping the skin barrier wet is the most important thing. Use a thick ointment right after washing, and make sure it has no perfume or artificial colors.

While keeping skin moisturized with a heavy cream is necessary, also watch your diet. For many people, dairy or gluten can trigger eczema flares. Try tracking what you eat along with using your moisturizers.

My five-year-old has eczema, and regular baby lotions never helped. We had to use thick, prescription-based barrier creams and avoid bubble baths completely. Keep their nails trimmed so they don't scratch and cause an infection.

I have noticed that high stress levels spike both my blood pressure and my skin issues. Using a good fragrance-free lotion helps with the dryness, but managing your daily stress through regular walks is equally important.
