Does losing weight help back pain?

I've been dealing with persistent lower back pain for ages now, and it really affects my daily life. My physiotherapist suggested that my weight might be contributing to it. Does losing some weight actually help in reducing back pain?

I was researching this because my lower back aches after sitting all day. Apparently, carrying extra weight around the belly pulls your spine forward and strains the back muscles. So yes, shedding some kilos should definitely help!

If you have a desk job like me, back pain is common, but carrying extra weight makes it ten times worse. Don't wait for a miracle; start with a 15-minute home workout and portion control. Your back will thank you within a few weeks.

Hey! Don't stress too much about the pain, but yes, losing weight is like taking a heavy backpack off your spine. Try starting with light stretching and cut down on sugar. You will feel lighter and much better very soon!

Absolutely, it does. Less body fat means less load on your lumbar spine. Focus on losing weight through a good caloric deficit and strengthen your core muscles with planks to support your lower back properly.

My elders always suggested warm sesame oil massages for my back ache, which is good for temporary relief. But my doctor clearly said losing 5 kgs would solve the root cause by reducing spine pressure. He was absolutely right, the pain is gone now.
