Does liver disease make your pee smell weird?

Lately, I've noticed my urine has a really strange, strong smell. My doctor mentioned checking my liver because of some other symptoms. Could liver disease be causing my pee to smell weird?

Yes, liver issues can sometimes cause a very strong or musty smell in urine due to toxins. Try to stay calm and consult a doctor to get a simple urine and liver test done.

Before worrying about liver disease, check your hydration and diet first. Sometimes high protein intake or not drinking enough water makes your pee smell super strong. But if you are well-hydrated and it still smells musty or looks dark, definitely go get your liver checked.

Yes, a musty or sweetish smell in urine is a known symptom of liver dysfunction. Please consult a doctor and get an LFT.

Haan na, urine can smell very different and even look quite dark yellow when the liver is struggling. It is better to get a doctor's advice soon instead of waiting, ho na.

Yes, when the liver isn't filtering toxins, they can end up in your sweat and urine, causing a distinct smell. Keep up your daily walks and drink plenty of water to help your body flush things out. If it persists, get a proper clinical opinion.

I totally understand how terrifying it is when you notice something weird like this and start thinking the worst. I panicked over the same thing last year and was convinced my liver was failing. It turned out to be just a mild UTI, so please get it checked to ease your mind.

Please do not ignore this symptom, especially if your urine is also dark tea-colored. I ignored these exact signs until my jaundice got extremely severe and caused liver complications. Go to a hospital and get your bilirubin and liver enzymes checked immediately.
