Does less sleep help adhd?

Someone mentioned online that less sleep might actually help with ADHD symptoms for some people. This sounds quite counterintuitive to me. Can reducing sleep really be beneficial for ADHD management?

No way, bro. Whenever I sleep less, my mind is completely all over the place the next day and I can't focus on a single task. Proper 7-8 hours of sleep is absolutely necessary if you want to keep your brain functioning normally.

Actually, less sleep makes ADHD symptoms like lack of focus and restlessness much worse, not better. A simple and practical way to manage this is to keep a fixed sleeping routine and avoid screens before bedtime. Good sleep is very important to keep the mind calm.

Sleep deprivation actually worsens executive dysfunction and focus issues. Along with prioritizing your rest, try to incorporate regular physical activities like a 30-minute daily walk if your doctor allows. Exercise is great for brain health and sleep quality.

Actually, it is the opposite, yaar. Less sleep makes you super irritated and brain-fogged, which makes managing ADHD way harder. Try to sleep on time and don't drink coffee late in the evening.

According to the psychiatrist I consulted, sleep deficits drastically impair the prefrontal cortex, which is already affected in ADHD. This leads to increased impulsivity and poorer attention span. Seeking professional medical guidance for sleep hygiene is crucial for managing ADHD effectively.
