Does leave in conditioner help with dandruff?

My scalp has been quite flaky and itchy, and I'm looking for solutions. A friend mentioned that some leave-in conditioners can actually help with dandruff. Is this true, or should I stick to medicated shampoos only?

Actually, leave-in conditioner is meant for hair strands, not the scalp, so it won't cure dandruff. For dandruff, you need a healthy diet rich in zinc and a proper medicated anti-dandruff shampoo.

I used to think my scalp dryness was dandruff and tried putting leave-in conditioner there, which made it worse! Once I realized it's just product buildup, I used a clarifying shampoo and everything went back to normal.

Haan na, ye bilkul ulta kaam karega agar scalp pe lagaya toh. Leave-in conditioner se dandruff thik nahi hota, iske liye toh acche doctor se shampoo likhwa ke lena chahiye.

I was just reading about this online because my hair gets very dry in winters. It turns out leave-in conditioners are only for the hair ends to prevent frizz, and have zero active ingredients to fight dandruff.

No, it absolutely does not help with dandruff. Dandruff is a scalp issue caused by yeast or oiliness, and putting conditioner on your scalp will only clog pores and make the flaking worse.
