Does lack of sleep cause palpitations?

Lately, after some really stressful work weeks where I barely slept 4-5 hours, I've been having these episodes where my heart feels like it's racing or thumping hard. My friends say it could be palpitations. Does missing sleep actually cause these heart palpitations?

Oh, absolutely! When you don't sleep, your body is basically running on empty and panic mode 😭. It releases adrenaline which makes your heart race. Just get some good rest and it will go away! 😴

Yes, sleep deprivation can trigger heart palpitations. When I experienced this, I visited a cardiologist at Apollo Hospital to rule out any serious issues. I highly recommend you get an ECG done and ask your doctor clearly rather than ignoring it.

I used to panic so much thinking I was having a heart attack when my heart would race after late nights! But my doctor reassured me that it is just a normal response to extreme fatigue. Once I got a full night's sleep, it completely stopped.

Haan babu, jab neend poori nahi hoti toh chhati me ghabrahat jaisi hone lagti hai. Hamare yahan toh log thanda pani peete hain aur thodi der chhaon me aaram karte hain. Aap bhi dhang se soiye, dil ki ghabrahat theek ho jayegi.

My college-going daughter had this during her exams because she was drinking coffee and not sleeping. We cut down her caffeine, made her sleep early, and the palpitations stopped. Please make sure you are resting properly, health comes first.

Omg same! I get crazy heart flutters whenever I sleep less than 5 hours, especially if I have tea or coffee the next morning. It is super scary, but actually just a sign that your body is exhausted. Try to avoid caffeine when you are sleep-deprived.

Yes, it does. Before you spend 2000-3000 rupees on expensive heart tests and doctor visits, try to sleep for 8 hours for three days straight. Most of the time, the palpitations are just due to fatigue and will go away for free with just rest.

I totally get it, when your heart starts racing out of nowhere it can feel so terrifying. Lack of sleep puts a lot of physical stress on our system, which directly causes these palpitations. Please take a deep breath, drink some water, and rest.
