Does kidney produce hormones?

I'm trying to learn more about the human body and its systems. I know kidneys filter blood, but do they also produce any important hormones?

Yes, they actually do! I was surprised to learn this when I had my routine tests done. They produce hormones that help manage things like blood pressure and making red blood cells. It's amazing how much they do besides just filtering water!

Yes, kidneys make vital hormones like erythropoietin and renin, which control red blood cells and blood pressure. Since I manage diabetes, I have to be very careful with my diet and regular checkups, as high sugar can damage these hormone-producing kidney tissues over time.

Yes, they do. When my daughter was diagnosed with a kidney condition, the doctor explained that kidneys make hormones essential for bone strength and red blood cells. That is why keeping her kidney health monitored with proper hospital visits is our top priority.

Yes, kidneys produce renin and calcitriol, which regulate blood pressure and calcium levels. When my kidney function dropped years ago, my vitamin D and blood pressure levels went completely out of whack. Make sure you get regular blood tests done if you have chronic health issues.

Honestly, I thought kidneys were just water filters till my doctor told me they make hormones that control blood pressure. Explains why my sleep and health are all over the place when I ignore my health. Nature really made our bodies too complicated to handle!
