Does kidney pain come and go?
For the past few days, I've had these sharp pains in my side that appear and then vanish after some time. Could this be kidney pain, and does it usually come and go like that?

Beta, in my 50s I had this issue and the pain definitely used to come and go in waves. One hour you feel absolutely fine and the next hour it grips you badly. Don't let the gap fool you into thinking it has cured itself, get a simple scan done.
Even if the pain is mild and disappears for hours, you should not ignore it. Kidney issues can sometimes progress quietly without constant pain. It is always safest to visit a clinic, get an ultrasound done, and let a doctor decide the next steps.
I totally get it, this sudden coming and going of pain is so stressful because you are always waiting for the next attack. It is very hard to plan your day when your body is behaving like this. Please take care and get a professional opinion so you can rest peacefully.
Honestly, I just got my stent removed last week after dealing with a kidney stone. The pain was exactly like this, it would vanish for two days making me happy, and then suddenly start at midnight. Please consult a doctor soon because when the pain returns, it can be really intense.
Haan yaar, kidney ka dard bilkul aise hi aata jaata rehta hai. Mujhe toh laga normal backache hai, par check karwaya toh chhota stone nikla. Dr. ko dikha lo na, faltu mein tension lekar kyun baithna.

Please don't take this lightly. I thought my pain going away meant the stone had passed, but it was actually blocking the tract and caused a severe kidney infection later. Go to a urologist immediately and get your kidney function checked before it gets complicated.
I can only tell you what happened with me. My pain used to start in my lower back, shoot to the front, and then completely stop after I drank lots of water. I am no expert so I won't suggest any remedies, but checking with a specialist helped me get the right diagnosis.
