Does invisalign cause cavities?

I'm thinking of getting Invisalign to straighten my teeth, but a friend told me she heard it can increase the risk of cavities. I'm a bit hesitant now. Does wearing Invisalign actually make you more prone to getting cavities?

Invisalign itself doesn't cause cavities, but if you lock in food particles and sugars by putting your aligners back on without brushing, it creates a breeding ground for bacteria. I always track my brushing routine on my phone to make sure I don't miss it.

I was lazy with my aligner cleaning and ignored a small tooth sensitivity, which turned into a painful root canal. Please do not make my mistake. Get regular dental checkups every few months while on Invisalign.

Let's be direct: if your dental hygiene is bad, you will get cavities whether you use Invisalign or not. You must brush and floss every single time you eat before popping those trays back in. There are no shortcuts here.

Yes, I agree. Cleaning your aligners and teeth thoroughly after every meal is the only way to avoid cavities.

I panicked completely when I noticed a tiny spot on my molar during my Invisalign treatment. But my dentist reassured me it was just minor staining and taught me how to clean better. It's totally manageable once you get into the habit!

I was so worried about cavities when I got my aligners last year! What worked for me was keeping a small pouch with a brush, floss, and mouthwash in my bag. It becomes super easy once it's part of your daily routine.

Don't rely on random dental hacks or charcoal powders to keep your teeth clean under aligners. Only your orthodontist can guide you on the right cleaning tabs and paste. Keep your routine visits scheduled.

My dentist at the dental clinic clearly told me that saliva cannot naturally clean your teeth when they are covered by plastic aligners. You should ask your dentist clearly about using a fluoride mouthwash to protect your enamel.

Haan yaar, agar bina brush kiye aligners pehnoge toh cavities toh hongi na. Bas thoda disciplined rehna padta hai khane ke baad. Carry a travel toothbrush with you always, it helps a lot.

Since diabetics are already more prone to gum issues and tooth decay, wearing aligners requires double the caution. Make sure you avoid sugary snacks and sticky foods entirely, and keep your mouth extremely clean.
