Does intermittent fasting help diabetes?

My brother, who also has diabetes, started intermittent fasting and claims his blood sugar levels have improved. I'm curious if this is a generally effective method. Does intermittent fasting actually help in managing diabetes?

Honestly, the hardest part of fasting for me is staying away from my evening samosas and sweets! While some say fasting helps control blood sugar, my cravings make my glucose levels crash and spike crazily. If you love food like me, consult your doctor before trying this.

With my busy meeting schedules, a 16:8 fasting window actually fits easily into my routine and helped manage my pre-diabetes. But you have to be very careful. Skipping meals while on diabetes medication can cause dangerous sugar drops, so always coordinate with your physician.

Haan yaar, insulin sensitivity to improve hoti hai fasting se, par diabetes me risk bhi toh hai na. Agar sugar bohot low ho gayi toh problem ho jayegi. Isliye doctor ki advice ke bina fasting mat shuru karna.

I get so anxious reading about hypoglycemia attacks during fasting. What if my sugar levels drop in my sleep and I don't realize? Please be very careful and keep a glucose monitor close to you if you are planning to try this.

I understand you want to manage your diabetes better, and that is great. But please don't rush into long fasting hours blindly. Diabetes management needs a very stable routine, so discuss this with your doctor first and take it slow.

Fasting can help some people manage their sugar levels, but it is not safe for everyone. Please consult your diabetologist before making any major changes to your eating times.

Let's be clear: intermittent fasting can improve HbA1c levels, but it's not a magic cure. If you are on insulin or sulfonylureas, fasting is highly risky due to hypoglycemia. Get a customized plan from an endocrinologist first.
