Does infrared light cause skin cancer?

I've been looking into getting an infrared lamp for my home for some pain relief. But then my friend mentioned something about it being harmful. Just wanted to confirm, does infrared light really cause skin cancer?

I completely understand the anxiety around skin cancer, especially with all the scary info online. I went through a phase where I was terrified of any light therapy. But learning that infrared is non-ionizing helped me feel much better.

No, infrared light does not cause skin cancer. It is the ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun that you need to protect against.

As a diabetic, I have to be very careful with my skin health and healing. My doctor cleared me to use infrared heating pads for nerve pain, reassuring me it doesn't cause skin cancer. Just monitor your skin for any burns if you have neuropathy.

Agree with others, it is safe. Just make sure you don't keep the light too close to avoid mild skin irritation.

When my son was advised infrared therapy for muscle recovery, I was also very worried about skin cancer risks. The specialist explained that it lacks the harmful UV radiation, which put my motherly mind at ease. It's quite safe.
