Does influenza always have fever?

My colleague was diagnosed with influenza, but he claimed he never had a fever. I always thought fever was a defining symptom of the flu. Does influenza always have a fever associated with it, or can you have it without one?

Honestly, not always! Last winter I got hit with bad body ache and a terrible cough, but my temperature barely went up. My doctor confirmed it was flu. Rest as much as you can and keep sipping warm water.

Bro last month I was feeling so weak and tired but no fever at all. Thought it was just exam stress but turns out it was mild influenza. Dont assume it's nothing just because there's no fever.

It is safer not to guess with viral infections. Even if you don't have a high fever, other symptoms can worsen quickly. Please get yourself checked by a local GP for a proper diagnosis.

I used to panic so much thinking it must be something else if there's no fever. But actually, my doc told me that sometimes your body fights it off without running a temperature. Just take it easy, you'll be fine.

True, you can get influenza without a fever sometimes. If your doctor says it's okay and your chest is clear, even a light walk inside the house can help you feel less stiff. Just don't push yourself too hard.
