Does indoor tanning help eczema?

My cousin has been struggling with eczema for a long time, and it makes him very uncomfortable. He heard somewhere that indoor tanning might actually help with eczema. Is there any truth to this?

Please be very careful with this. While some light therapy helps eczema, regular indoor tanning beds can actually burn and dry out your sensitive skin, making the itching much worse.

Do not try indoor tanning for skin issues without medical supervision. Eczema-prone skin is highly sensitive, and UV beds can cause severe burns or flare-ups. Please consult a dermatologist who can guide you on safe, medical-grade phototherapy.

Man, I would rather eat a bowl of hot gulab jamun to feel better than sit in a baking machine! Eczema needs hydration, and tanning beds will just fry you like a pakoda. Better to stick to your doctor's creams and eat cooling foods.

My eczema was very bad, but instead of harsh treatments, I focused on gentle pranayama like Anulom Vilom to reduce stress, and applied pure coconut oil. Artificial tanning can be very harsh on your delicate skin barrier. Nature has gentler ways to heal.

I have dealt with eczema on my hands for years. A friend suggested tanning, but when I tried it, my skin got incredibly dry, flaky, and started burning badly. I immediately went back to my doctor's prescription ointment and decided never to try such shortcuts again.

There is a big difference between medical phototherapy and commercial tanning beds. My dermatologist explained that tanning beds emit uncontrolled UVA rays which age the skin and increase cancer risk, whereas medical light therapy uses narrow-band UVB which is carefully calibrated for eczema. Avoid the tanning salons.
