Does icy hot help with nerve pain?

My doctor told me I have some nerve pain in my leg, and it really bothers me, especially at night. A neighbour said these 'icy hot' creams can help a lot. I wanted to know if they are actually effective for nerve pain, or just for muscle aches?

I can only speak from my own experience with sciatica last year. Icy hot didn't really touch the nerve pain for me, it just made my skin feel very cold and then burning hot. My doctor eventually prescribed specific nerve supplements which actually made the difference.

Bro, honestly, it doesnt help much with deep nerve issues. I tried it for a pinched nerve in my neck and it just irritated my skin without relieving the actual shooting pain. Better to get proper meds from a doc than wasting money on these gels.

It will mostly just make you smell like a walking pharmacy and burn your skin, haha! Nerve pain is a different beast and doesn't get scared of icy hot. Keep the gel for normal gym soreness and see a doc for the electric shock sensations!

Do not keep buying expensive imported gels like icy hot, it is a waste of money for nerve issues. Instead, save that cash for an MRI or nerve conduction study which your doctor will likely ask for. Planning and getting the right test early will save you a lot of medical bills later.

Nerve pain is so incredibly exhausting and it really drains you mentally when nothing seems to work. I remember crying from the constant burning sensation and hoping icy hot would help, but it barely did anything. Please be gentle with yourself and get a proper diagnosis, you don't have to suffer like this.

Look, let's be very clear, nerve pain is not a simple muscle sprain. Icy hot works on the surface level only, it cannot reach the nerves inside. Save yourself the trouble and see a neurologist directly instead of experimenting at home.
