Does hydrocortisone make eczema worse?

Using a hydrocortisone cream for my eczema for a little while, but sometimes it feels like my skin gets even more irritated or red after applying it. Is it possible for hydrocortisone to actually make eczema worse in some cases?

No, it doesn't make it worse if you use it correctly for a few days. But if you keep applying it for months, it will thin your skin and make your eczema flare up even worse.

Don't stress too much about it! Just use a tiny pea-sized amount only on the itchy spots, and it will actually soothe your skin instead of making it worse.

Sometimes commercial creams have perfumes that irritate your skin. If your eczema gets redder after applying it, stop using it immediately and show it to a doctor.

I used it during my flare-up last month. It cleared my skin beautifully, but the moment I stopped using it suddenly, the redness came back; you have to taper it off slowly.

Listen, hydrocortisone is meant to calm eczema down, not worsen it. However, if there is an underlying bacterial infection, steroids can mask it, so always let a doctor check your skin first.

The cream works for inflammation, but real eczema healing starts from within. Avoid inflammatory foods like sugar and dairy while using your prescribed treatments.

Overusing steroid creams can lead to a rebound flare-up. Keep your applications limited to five to seven days and always back it up with a heavy ceramide moisturizer.

It only made mine worse when I used an expired tube by mistake! Always check the date and don't apply it on open, bleeding cracks.
