Does humid weather affect arthritis?

My knee pain becomes so much worse during the monsoon season here in Lucknow. My neighbors say it's because of the humidity, but I always thought it was just the cold. Is there actually a connection between humid weather and arthritis pain?

I can only speak from my own experience with joint stiffness. Whenever the humidity rises in Kolkata, my knees definitely feel a lot heavier and ache more. I usually just try to stay in an air-conditioned room to keep the air dry.

The changing seasons and weather can sometimes bring discomfort to our physical bodies. Keep your spirit positive and try to do light, gentle movements to keep the energy flowing. Take care of yourself during these damp days.

Yes, high humidity and barometric pressure changes can cause tissues around the joints to expand, leading to pain. In my experience, practicing Sukshma Vyayama (gentle joint rotations) and slow pranayama daily helps immensely in keeping the joints supple.

Actually, changes in humidity and pressure can make your joints feel more stiff and sore. Keep yourself warm, use a hot water bag for comfort, and don't hesitate to ask your doctor for a safe pain relief plan if the discomfort increases.

Weather can play a big role, but joint pain can also be linked to thyroid levels or inflammation in the body. It is always wise to get your thyroid and rheumatoid factors tested regularly. Do follow up with your doctor for a proper diagnosis.
