Does hrt increase risk of breast cancer?

My doctor recommended HRT for my severe hot flashes, but I'm very scared about breast cancer because it runs in my family. Does HRT definitely increase the risk of breast cancer?

When we consulted the senior gynaecologist at Medanta, she clearly explained that while combined HRT has a slight risk increase, estrogen-only HRT is much safer. I strongly suggest going to a reputable hospital and asking your specialist to break down the statistics for your specific health history. It is always better to get clear facts from a pro.

Dealing with hormonal issues like PCOS has taught me that every body reacts differently to therapy. Yes, there is a small statistical link between certain types of HRT and breast cancer, but it's not a one-size-fits-all risk. It's best to be cautious, do your regular screenings, and discuss alternatives with your doctor.

Honestly, keeping up with these medical scare stories is harder than resisting a hot plate of chole bhature! Yes, there is a minor risk with HRT, but it's not like you're definitely going to get sick. Enjoy your life, eat well, get your regular mammograms, and let the doctors handle the heavy medical stuff.

If you ask Google, even drinking water from a plastic bottle will give you ten different diseases by next Tuesday! Yes, there is a slight increase in risk, but it is extremely small for most women. Just don't panic and consult your doctor instead of reading scary internet articles.

Let’s look at the facts directly: the risk increase is actually very small and comparable to lifestyle factors like drinking alcohol or being overweight. If you have no family history of breast cancer, the benefits of HRT for menopause usually outweigh the risks. Just get your annual mammograms done and stop worrying.

I completely understand why you are asking this, because I literally spend hours overthinking every single side effect of hormone treatments. The risk is there but it is mostly associated with long-term use of combined HRT, not short-term. Try to stay calm, write down all your fears, and go through them one by one with your doctor.
