Does hot cocoa help you sleep?
My friend told me that hot cocoa before bed can really help you get good sleep. I've been having trouble sleeping lately, so I was wondering if it's true or just a myth.

Actually yaar, it depends on how sweet you make it. If you put too much sugar, you will get an energy spike instead of feeling sleepy. I use dark cocoa powder with just a tiny bit of jaggery, and that actually helps to calm the mind after a crazy day.
Honestly, the only thing hot cocoa does for my sleep is make me feel guilty about the late-night sugar rush. I drink it hoping for magic but end up staring at the ceiling till 3 AM. If you want real sleep, maybe skip the chocolate calories and just try warm water.
I used to drink this every single night when my insomnia was at its worst, just desperately hoping for some comfort. While the warmth felt like a big hug, it didn't really solve my sleep issues. It is okay to enjoy it for comfort, but please don't feel discouraged if it doesn't solve your sleeplessness.
It is more about the warm mug and the routine that relaxes you, not the cocoa itself. Cocoa actually has a tiny bit of caffeine, so if you are sensitive, it might keep you awake. Try switching to plain warm milk or chamomile tea if you find yourself struggling to drift off.

Hot cocoa is great for sleeping if your goal is to dream about swimming in a pool of chocolate. Otherwise, that sugar kick might just have you cleaning your kitchen cupboards at midnight. Drink it because it tastes amazing, but don't expect it to act like a sleeping pill!
