Does hiatus hernia cause vomiting?
I've been diagnosed with a hiatus hernia, and sometimes I feel nauseous, even throw up after eating. Is vomiting a common symptom of a hiatus hernia, or should I be concerned about something else?

I have been diagnosed with a small hiatus hernia and lately, I feel extremely nauseous and vomit after heavy meals. It is making me so anxious. Has anyone else experienced actual vomiting with this condition, or is it just me?
Drinking warm ginger water or chewing fennel seeds after meals can help soothe stomach nausea gently. However, if the hiatus hernia is causing you to vomit frequently, it means the acid reflux is quite severe. Please consult a doctor immediately for proper treatment.
According to my gastroenterologist, a large hiatus hernia can cause severe acid reflux or even a partial blockage, leading to vomiting. He emphasized that persistent vomiting can irritate the esophagus and requires proper medical management, not self-medication. Please schedule an endoscopy to be sure.
In my experience, when my hiatus hernia was acting up badly, I had severe nausea and sometimes threw up bile in the morning. Once I started eating very light dinner at least three hours before sleeping, the vomiting stopped completely. That's just what worked for me.
My uncle has a hiatus hernia and he literally cannot lie down right after eating or he feels like throwing up. It's super annoying but apparently quite common because the stomach acid slips back up. Better to keep meals small and simple.
