Does herpes cause cancer cervix?

My friend and I were discussing women's health issues, and she mentioned something about herpes leading to cervical cancer. I found this quite alarming. Is there any link between herpes infection and developing cancer of the cervix?

When my wife went for her annual checkup at Apollo, we asked the gynecologist about this. She clearly explained that Herpes (HSV) does not cause cervical cancer, it is actually HPV (Human Papillomavirus) that is responsible for it. Please consult a doctor to get the right tests done and clear up any doubts.

I was reading an article on women's health yesterday and it said many people confuse Herpes with HPV. Herpes causes painful sores but does not lead to cervical cancer, while certain high-risk strains of HPV can cause it. It's so important to know the difference between these viruses.

Please do not worry unnecessarily about this. Herpes is a different virus and is not the cause of cervical cancer. Stay calm and speak to a doctor for your peace of mind.

I always get so stressed researching medical stuff that I end up ordering a whole pizza to cope! Luckily, herpes doesn't cause cervical cancer, so you can breathe easy on that front. Just eat some good comfort food and book a routine Pap smear with your doctor to stay safe.

Google will tell you a paper cut can cause fatal issues, so please step away from the search bar! Herpes and cervical cancer are not partners in crime; that title belongs to HPV. Go see a real gynaecologist and spare yourself the stress.

From a clinical perspective, Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) causes localized lesions but is not oncogenic in the cervix. My family physician confirmed that the primary risk factor for cervical cancer is persistent infection with high-risk Human Papillomavirus (HPV). He recommends regular Pap smears and HPV vaccination for prevention.
