Does heart attack cause belching?

I've been belching a lot recently, more than usual, and it's making me wonder if it could be a sign of something more serious. Can a heart attack actually cause belching, or is that just indigestion?

As someone with high BP, I used to think belching and gas were just due to my diet. But my doctor warned me that sudden, excessive belching, especially with a heavy chest or sweating, can actually be a sign of a heart attack. Keep a close eye on your pressure and get regular checkups done.

My cardiologist explained that the heart and stomach share the same nerve pathways. So, when the heart is in distress, it can feel like severe indigestion, leading to sudden belching or burping. If this comes with jaw pain or breathlessness, it is a medical emergency, not acidity.

Yes, it can. People often mistake a heart attack for a simple case of gas or acidity because of the heavy belching. If you are having chest discomfort alongside it, stop popping antacids and get yourself to a hospital immediately.

Belching usually happens when we gulp air or eat too fast, but sudden burping with unexplained fatigue or chest tightness is a known atypical heart symptom. Don't try to sweat it out in the gym or ignore it. If the discomfort is unusual, drop the workout and see a doctor.

While we vegetarians often blame heavy meals, spices, or lentils for our belching, we must be careful. If the belching starts suddenly and is accompanied by an uneasy feeling in the center of the chest, it might not be food gas at all. Please seek medical help to be safe.
