Does having a messy room affect your mental health?

My room has been quite messy for weeks now, with clothes and books everywhere, and honestly, I feel a bit stressed and down when I'm in it. Does having a messy living space really affect your mental well-being or is it just in my head?

I notice that when my room is very messy, my mood drops and I feel more fatigued, which is already a struggle with PCOS. I don't want to say it directly causes depression, but a chaotic environment definitely adds to mental stress. Keeping just the bed clean helps a lot.

Honestly, when my room is a mess, I end up eating junk food on my bed and feeling super lazy. Cleaning up actually gives me a fresh burst of energy to get up and cook something healthy. Physical space and mental peace are totally connected.

Look, if your surroundings are dirty, your thoughts will also feel foggy. You don't need a luxury setup, just keep your clothes folded and trash in the bin. It takes ten minutes but saves you from a lot of unnecessary mental headache.

Bro, my room used to look like a war zone and I never realized why I felt so irritated during my online exams. The day I finally organized my desk, my mind felt so much lighter. It actually works, no joke.

Our elders always said that cleanliness brings positive energy and focus. A messy home creates unnecessary confusion in the mind, making children irritable. Try to declutter a small corner every day and light a mild incense stick; it brings great peace.

Yes, visual clutter competes for your brain's attention and spikes stress levels. If cleaning the whole room feels too overwhelming, my realistic tip is to follow the 'five-minute rule.' Just pick up five things from the floor today, and it will build momentum.
