Does having a clean room help mental health?

Lately, I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed and generally low on energy, and my room is a mess. My mother keeps saying if I clean my room, I'll feel better mentally. Can having a clean room actually help improve your mental health?

It definitely does, trust me on this. When your physical space is cluttered, your brain also feels crowded and stressed. Just start by making your bed tomorrow morning; it's a small victory that instantly makes you feel more in control.

From what I have seen with patients, a clean environment physically lowers cortisol levels, which is the stress hormone. Less dust and clutter also means better air quality and sleep. It's a very simple, practical step to support your overall wellness.

When I was severely depressed, my room was an absolute disaster and it made me feel even more worthless. Cleaning it felt impossible, but once I cleared the trash, I felt a literal weight lift off my chest. It really does help quiet the noise in your mind.

Dealing with chronic fatigue from PCOS often makes cleaning hard, but I notice my mood is much lighter when my desk is organized. I don't want to say it cures anxiety, but a clean room definitely removes one extra trigger from your day.

Haan na, it makes a huge difference. When everything is messy, my irritation levels just go up for no reason. Keeping things back in their place takes ten minutes, but actually gives so much peace of mind.

Absolutely! I track my sleep on my smartwatch and I notice my deep sleep percentage is always higher when my room is clean and organized. It definitely reduces mental clutter, letting your brain wind down properly at night.
