Does hand sanitizer kill hepatitis c?

Work in a public-facing role and always carry hand sanitizer, especially after the pandemic. I'm wondering about its effectiveness against more serious viruses. Can hand sanitizer kill the Hepatitis C virus?

Actually yaar, standard alcohol hand sanitizers might not be fully effective against Hep C because it's a very tough virus. Washing hands properly with soap and running water is always the best option. Don't rely only on sanitizer for such things.

Having dealt with severe liver complications myself, I urge you not to take any chances with Hepatitis C. It is a highly resilient virus. If you think you've been exposed through a needle or blood, go see a doctor immediately for proper testing.

Please don't trust WhatsApp forwards or random blogs claiming sanitizers clean everything. Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus and requires very specific clinical disinfectants to be destroyed on surfaces. Please verify these facts with a real medical professional.

No, normal hand sanitizers are not guaranteed to kill Hepatitis C on your hands or any surface. Standard soap and water is much more reliable for general hygiene, but Hep C is mostly spread through direct blood contact, so keep that in mind.

I always try to be very careful with hygiene because of my own health issues, but from what I have read, sanitizers are not enough for Hepatitis C. It's a blood-borne infection, so basic hand gel won't protect against exposure. It's better to be safe and use proper medical sterilization.
