Does gluten free help diabetes?

My father has diabetes, and we're constantly looking for ways to manage his blood sugar better. A friend told us that a gluten-free diet could help. Does gluten-free help diabetes, or is that not really a factor?

My father always says traditional millets like ragi and kambu are best for managing sugar levels. Going gluten-free is not a direct cure for diabetes, but switching to whole grains definitely helps. Please follow your doctor's advice on carbohydrate portion sizes.

If you replace wheat roti with gluten-free samosas, your sugar will still touch the sky! Gluten-free doesn't mean sugar-free, so keep an eye on those sweet cravings.

I can only speak from my own journey of managing high blood sugar. Switching to gluten-free flour didn't lower my HbA1c, but reducing overall carbohydrate portions did. Every body is different, so see how your readings react.

It doesn't directly help diabetes. Managing your total carb intake and glycemic index is what actually matters.

My father was just diagnosed with diabetes last week and I am still trying to understand everything. Does going gluten-free mean we have to stop giving him normal wheat roti? If anyone has simple advice, please share.

I got so nervous after reading that wheat causes sugar spikes that I wanted to stop gluten immediately. Has anyone with diabetes actually seen a drop in their fasting sugar after going gluten-free, or is it just a rumor?
