Does gluten flare eczema?

My son has severe eczema, and we're always looking for triggers. Someone suggested that gluten might be making it worse. Does gluten flare eczema, or is that just a myth?

I go to a dermatologist at Kokilaben Hospital for my skin issues, and they told me there is no direct link between gluten and eczema unless you have a proven gluten allergy. Please ask your doctor clearly and get patch tests done rather than guessing.

I have dealt with severe eczema flares for years. Cutting out gluten did help reduce my skin itching, but only because my gut health was poor. Keep your skin heavily moisturized with a ceramide cream and try keeping a food diary to track flares.

There is a trend of blaming gluten for every skin problem on the internet. Eczema flares can be caused by dust, weather, soap, or stress. Please verify with a proper dermatologist before eliminating wheat from your diet.

In patients with underlying inflammatory conditions, gluten can sometimes aggravate eczema. Since I have to monitor my glycemic index and skin health closely due to diabetes, I always advise talking to a doctor before making major dietary cuts.

With my busy work schedule, I can't afford to experiment with complex diet restrictions. When my eczema flared up, I simply got a food allergen panel done at a lab. It saved me so much time, and I found out my trigger was dairy, not gluten.
