I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during my pregnancy, and I'm quite worried about any long-term effects on my child. I read something online. Does gestational diabetes cause autism?

I just got my high sugar reports and read something online about this, which has made me so scared. Is there really any direct connection between gestational diabetes and autism? Please help me understand.

There is no direct cause-and-effect link. I had severe gestational diabetes and my child is completely healthy and neurotypical. Just keep your sugar levels well-controlled with diet and exercise, and don't read random internet articles.

Haan, modern internet can make anyone panic na! There is no solid proof that gestational diabetes directly causes autism. Just focus on your insulin or diet as told by the doc and relax.

Agree, there is no direct link. Just follow your gynecologist's advice and keep your sugar in check.

Instead of worrying about these complex medical theories, let's focus on what we can control. Eat simple home food, cut down on sweets, and go for daily walks to keep your sugar normal. That is the best way to keep your baby safe.

I totally get it, when you are pregnant, every small risk factor makes you worry about the baby's entire future. But please rest assured, millions of women have gestational diabetes and go on to have perfectly healthy babies. Take deep breaths.
