Does gastroenteritis cause fever?

My son has been feeling unwell with a stomach bug – he's had diarrhea and seems very tired. I'm wondering if a fever is also a typical symptom of gastroenteritis, or if I should be looking for other reasons for his elevated temperature.

Yes, gastroenteritis can cause a mild to moderate fever because it is often a viral or bacterial stomach infection. Since I have PCOS, my body's immunity sometimes acts up, so I always consult my physician when a stomach bug comes with a fever. Please don't ignore it and get a proper diagnosis.

I had stomach flu last month after eating street food and got a 101-degree fever along with loose motions. It is totally normal because of the infection. Just keep drinking ORS to avoid dehydration and see a doctor to get the right antibiotics if needed.

Ah, the classic stomach flu! It loves to bring a fever along just to make sure you stay completely flat on the bed. Yes, it is very common for your temperature to rise as your body fights the infection. Just get some rest and let the doctor handle the prescription.

Please be very careful. When I had gastroenteritis with a high fever, I delayed going to the hospital and ended up severely dehydrated with kidney strain. A fever means there is an active infection, so please visit a doctor immediately instead of waiting for it to go away on its own.

Fever with gastroenteritis usually means your body is fighting a bacterial bug. Instead of buying expensive random multivitamins, go to a government dispensary where the consultation is free or very cheap. They will guide you on whether you need a basic blood test or just simple hydration.

Do not rely on home remedies like ginger tea if you have a fever with stomach infection. A fever indicates a proper infection that might need specific medical treatment. Get yourself checked by a certified general physician to know exactly what is going on.

I literally just recovered from this last week. The fever lasted for about two days along with bad stomach cramps. My doctor put me on a light diet of khichdi and curd rice along with rehydration salts. Please consult a doctor so you can get the right recovery plan.
