Does gallbladder pain come and go?

For the past few weeks, I've been getting these sharp pains in my upper right abdomen, but they don't last very long and then disappear. My wife thinks it might be gallbladder issues because her cousin had similar symptoms. Is it typical for gallbladder pain to be on-and-off like this?

I totally understand how terrifying this pain is, it used to keep me awake all night wondering when it will strike again. Yes, it absolutely comes and goes, especially after heavy meals. Please don't sit on this anxiety, talking to a doctor really helped calm my mind.

Yes, gallbladder pain is notoriously episodic and can strike out of nowhere. When I was dealing with mild symptoms, keeping my digestion active with light walks after meals helped a bit. But if the pain is sharp and persistent, you must consult your physician before doing any exercise.

I made the mistake of ignoring that on-and-off pain for six months, thinking it was just basic acidity. It ended up becoming a severe infection and I had to get emergency surgery. Please don't ignore these warning signs and get an ultrasound done soon.

Beta, gallbladder pain indeed comes in waves, usually after eating heavy or fried food. While you are waiting to see a doctor, try sipping warm water and keep your meals very simple and oil-free. But remember, home remedies are only for temporary comfort, you must get it diagnosed properly.

Oh, it definitely does! Mine would happen suddenly at night, last for two hours, and then disappear completely the next day like nothing happened. It is usually triggered by fatty foods. I'd suggest keeping a food diary and showing it to your doctor.

My mother used to say that bloating and pain after meals is just 'gas' and told me to drink jeera water. It gave temporary relief, but when we met the doctor, we found out it was gallbladder stones. Do consult a professional, they will guide you safely.

Yes, classic gallbladder attacks come and go. When the stone blocks the duct, it hurts, and once it slips back, the pain stops. My advice is to avoid oily dinners completely and schedule a consultation with a gastro specialist to discuss permanent solutions.

According to my gastroenterologist, this is called biliary colic. The pain happens when the gallbladder contracts to release bile but gets blocked by a stone, and it subsides once the gallbladder relaxes. It's a clear sign you need to get a medical evaluation done.
