Does folic acid affect thyroid levels?

I have hypothyroidism and take medication daily. My nutritionist recommended I take folic acid for general health, but I want to be careful. Can folic acid somehow affect my thyroid hormone levels or interfere with my medication?

I totally get it, balancing multiple supplements while worrying about your thyroid can be very confusing. Folic acid doesn't directly interfere with your thyroid hormones, but you should still keep your doctor informed about everything you take.

Good news! Folic acid is actually very safe and doesn't mess with your thyroid levels at all. Just make sure to take your thyroid medicine on an empty stomach and any other vitamins later in the day.

Folic acid lene se thyroid levels par koi bura asar nahi padta. Dono alag cheezein hain. Haan, bas thyroid ki goli subah khali pet lo aur folic acid dopehar ko khane ke baad. Zyada dimag mat lagao.

My wife takes folic acid regularly on her doctor's advice, and it has never altered her thyroid readings. Elders in the family suggest natural foods, but we always trust the blood test reports and our doctor's prescription.

Actually, folic acid doesn't affect thyroid levels directly, yaar. I've been taking both thyroxine and folic acid for months now and my reports are totally normal. Just keep a gap between the two tablets.
