Does flexeril help nerve pain?

I have been suffering from persistent nerve pain in my back after an injury. My doctor gave me Flexeril, but I'm not sure if it targets nerve pain specifically. Does Flexeril actually help nerve pain?

All I know is Flexeril knocked me out for twelve hours straight! It didn't fully cure my nerve pain, but hey, at least I finally got some sleep after staring at the ceiling for days. It just makes you too drowsy to care about the pain.

Flexeril is actually a muscle relaxant, so it is great for muscle spasms but not directly designed for nerve pain like sciatica. When I had severe radiating nerve pain, my doctor had to prescribe specific nerve medications instead. Don't self-medicate for nerve issues.

With my high BP, I have to be very careful with medications like Flexeril as they can cause dizziness. Make sure you get your blood pressure checked regularly and consult your doctor before taking it for nerve-related issues.

Honestly, I took it once during exams for a pinched nerve in my neck and it just made me super sleepy during my study hours. It didn't do much for the sharp nerve pain anyway, so I had to visit the campus doc.

I tracked my recovery timeline on my health app and noticed Flexeril only helped when the nerve pain was triggered by tight surrounding muscles compressing the nerve. It is a muscle relaxer, not a nerve pain killer, so keep that in mind.

For nerve issues, medication only provides temporary relief. If your doctor clears you, light stretching and 20 minutes of daily walking can help relieve the pressure on your nerves naturally over time.

In my experience, it works much better for muscle stiffness rather than sharp nerve pain.
